Explore grant opportunities.

The Jewish Federation of Detroit offers several grantmaking funds that support Jewish and non-Jewish nonprofit organizations across metropolitan Detroit.

Some of these funds are managed directly by us, while others are independent grantmaking funds affiliated with Federation—giving organizations different ways to find funding that fits their work.

Jewish Federation of Detroit Grant Opportunities

Through these grantmaking funds, Federation supports local organizations strengthening Jewish life and meeting evolving community needs.

Berman Jewish Experiences
for Families

The Berman JEFF grant accepts proposals for block grants of up to $10,000 to support organizations’ capacities to offer enriching Jewish family programming.

Stephen H. Schulman Millenium
Fund for Jewish Youth

The Schulman Fund provides monetary grants to metropolitan Detroit Jewish organizations serving middle and high school youth.

Byron & Dorothy
Gerson Innovation Fund

The Byron & Dorothy Gerson Innovation Fund fosters a culture of innovation, entrepreneurship, and creativity within Detroit’s Jewish community by supporting new programs, pilots, and initiatives.

Irwin & Bethea Green
College Life Fund

(Campus, Early Education & Congregational Schools Support) The Irwin & Bethea Green College Life Fund provides grants to campus Hillels and helps offset costs for families through per‑student subsidies. Currently, $190 per student is provided to synagogue- and Chabad-affiliated early childhood centers and congregational schools. For more information, email grants@jewishdetroit.org.

Hermelin Davidson Center
for Congregational Excellence

The Hermelin-Davidson Center helps enhance and enrich congregations across the Metropolitan Detroit Jewish community.

Jewish Women’s
Foundation

Jewish Women’s Foundation (JWF) supports Michigan and Isarael-based programs, projects, and initiatives that advance social change by expanding opportunities for Jewish women, their families, and community.

The Jewish
Fund    

The Jewish Fund works to support equitable access to services promoting the health and well-being of vulnerable and underserved men, women and children in the Jewish and broader metropolitan Detroit community.

Sinai Medical
Staff Foundation

The Sinai Medical Staff Foundation awards grants between $5,000 and $30,000 to non-profit, health-related organizations located in Southeast Michigan
