Affinities

Our Maimonides Society engages Jewish healthcare professionals with opportunities to learn and socialize with one another — and significant others are always welcome! Programs include educational speakers, networking opportunities and the occasional night out to hang up your white coat and let your hair down.

Our Pound for Pound Men’s Group offers innovative programs and exclusive experiences for Gen X men that connect them to one another and the work of the Jewish Federation. Pound for Pound is about building community, celebrating Jewish Detroit and making a difference.

The Loop brings Federation programming to the westernmost suburbs of Jewish Detroit and engages community members with creative social events in Novi, Northville, Commerce and beyond.

Our missions are designed to create boutique experiences for Jewish Gen X Detroiters that connect them to one another, Federation, the Jewish community at large, to Israel and to Jewish communities around the world. All mission programs include a series of pre/post-mission sessions and an overseas experience.

Our Attorney’s Group engages Jewish attorneys with opportunities to learn and socialize with one another — and significant others are always welcome! Programs include exclusive speakers that appeal to attorneys across a variety of specialties, as well as fun evenings out and ample opportunities to network with fellow lawyers from around town.

Entourage is a new group offering innovative programming and exclusive experiences for men (ages 35-45). Entourage not only connects you to the work of the Jewish Federation but also provides networking and community building while celebrating Jewish Detroit and making a difference in our own community and abroad.

We know some things are just better when we’re all together! So, in addition to programming tailored for specific groups, we also love to put together an experience that everyone is sure to enjoy— whether that be a throwback dress-up party, a fun night out for the whole family or simply a chance to see old friends and make some new ones.

Our Real Estate Group engages Jewish commercial real estate professionals with fun and interesting opportunities to network, visit new sites in town and participate in think tanks and other programs that focus on relevant industry topics.

Affinities recently launched our first Pride group with the goal of bringing together members of Jewish Detroit’s LGBTQIA+ community through engaging programs that celebrate diverse identities and deepen connections to each other, to the Federation and to the wider Jewish community. Our Pride group is focused on creating a welcoming atmosphere where we can enjoy each other's company, learn from one another and, above all, find solidarity and friendship. We are grateful to the Byron & Dorothy Gerson Innovation Fund for their generous funding that allowed this programming to begin with a bang!

Looking to learn more about the Federation, our partner agencies and how we work together to serve our community? You’ve come to the right place! Affinities offers two programs, Debut (for women) and Launch (for men), that aim to engage Gen X community members who want to further their knowledge of Jewish Detroit. The Debut and Launch programs each consist of three sessions, culminating in a visit to Detroit to see first-hand how Federation is also playing a critical role in the continued revitalization of the city.
