Lion of Judah is an international philanthropic society of Jewish women who make a personal annual gift of $5,000, or a household gift of $10K, or more to their local Jewish Federation.
Founded in 1972, Lions of Judah has grown into a global sisterhood of over 20,000 women across North America and around the world and over 700 Lions of Judah in Detroit. Lions of Judah play an important role in the strength of our Detroit Jewish Community.
Throughout the year, Women’s Philanthropy hosts various opportunities for Lions to connect with one another. And every fall, we celebrate Lion of Judah with our local annual event.
The International Lion of Judah Conference
The International Lion of Judah Conference takes place every other year and brings together thousands of Lions from around the world. The conference is a powerful gathering focused on learning, global Jewish impact, leadership development and the power of female voice.Â
The next International Conference will be held in Austin, February 27- March 2, 2027. We will share more details when they become available.
Forever Lions
Lions of Judah can further solidify their legacies by becoming Forever Lions, making a permanent endowed gift. This endowment ensures their minimum $5,000 annual contribution continues in perpetuity. It signifies a woman’s commitment to sustaining Jewish life here in Detroit, in Israel and around the world for generations to come. To learn more about Forever Lion, contact Lauren Soifer at soifer@jewishdetroit.org.
